Understanding the Clairs

The “clairs” are intuitive senses…. ways of perceiving beyond the physical.
Just as you use your five senses to understand the world around you, the clairs are how you understand the world within you….
how you receive insight, guidance, & awareness on a deeper level.

The Core Clairs

CLEAR SEEING

The ability to receive visual impressions, images, or symbols in the mind. This can appear as flashes, visions, or mental imagery that carries meaning beyond what is physically seen.

WORKING WITH THIS CLAIR

Clairvoyance strengthens through intention & trust.
Begin by paying attention to the images that comes to mind througout your day…. especially the ones that feel random, symbolic, or out of place. Instead of dismissing them, pause & ask what they might represent. Usually, the first thing that comes to mind is the right one. That initial knowing will strengthen with time as you practice this and sit with yourself.
Practices like visualization. meditation, & quiet observation help sharpen this ability. When your mind is still, it becomes easier to notice subtle imagery & impressions.
The key is consistency. The more you acknowledge what you see internally, the clearer & more defined it becomes over time.

CLEAR HEARING

The ability to hear messages internally or externally.
This may come through as inner thoughts, tones, or words that feel distinct from your own internal dialogue.

WORKING WITH THIS CLAIR

Clairaudience develops through stillness & discernment.
Start by paying attention to your inner dialogue…. especially thoughts that feel calm, clear, & not emotionally charged. Intuitive messages often come through as subtle, steady impressions rather than loud or urgent voices.
Creating quiet space is important. Time spent in silence, meditation, or even just reducing background noise allows you to notice what is already there.
The key is learning the difference between your own thoughts & intuitive insight. With practice, intuitive messages feel more neutral, direct, & consistent…. while fear-based thoughts tend to feel reactive or pressured.

CLEAR FEELING

The ability to feel energy, emotions, or physical sensations intuitively.
This often shows up as picking up on the emotions of others or sensing the energy of a space.

WORKING WITH THIS CLAIR

Clairsentience develops through awareness of your body & emotional state.
Begin by noticing what you feel in your body throughout the day…. shifts in mood, phyical sensations, or emotional responses that seem to come out of nowhere. Instead of reacting immediately, pause & ask yourself if what you’re feeling is yours or something you’re picking up from your environment.
Grounding practices are essential. Movement, breathwork, & time in stillness help you stay connected to your own energy, so you can better recognize what is external.
The key is learning to observe without absorbing. As you become more aware of your own baseline, it becomes easier to sense energy without becoming overwhelmed by it.

CLEAR KNOWING

The ability to know something without logical reasoning or explanation.
This is a deep, immediate understanding that simply feels true.

WORKING WITH THIS CLAIR

Claircognizance strengthens through trust & not overthinking.
Start by noticing the moments where you simply know something without needing proof or explanation. These insights are often immediate, clear, & come without a long chain of reasoning.
The challenge is not receiving the insight…. it’s trusting it. Instead of questioning it right away, allow it to exist without forcing logic onto it.
Journaling can help. Writing down, or even voice recording, what you “just know” allows you to reflect later & see how often those insights were accurate.
The key is allowing knowing to be enough. The more you trust what comes through, the more consistent & reliable it becomes.

CLEAR TASTE

The ability to taste something without physically consuming it.
This can happen suddenly and may carry symbolic or intuive meaning.

WORKING WITH THIS CLAIR

Clairgustance develops through awareness & subtle observation.
Begin by noticing unexpected tastes that appear without a physical source. These moments are often brief & easy to dismiss, but they can carry intuitive or symbolic meaning.
Instead of overanalyzing, simply acknowledge when it happens & note what you were thinking, feeling, or experiencing at the time. Patterns may begin to form the more you pay attention.
Because this sense is subtle, it strengthens through presence. The more aware you are in the moment, the easier it becomes to recognize when something is intuitive rather than physical.
The key is not to force the experience. Like all intuitive senses, it becomes clearer through patience, not pressure.

CLEAR SMELLING

The ability to smell scents that are not physically present.
These scents may appear unexpectedly & hold intuitive or energetic significance.

WORKING WITH THIS CLAIR

Clairailience develops through awareness of scent & memory.
Begin by noticing when a scent appears without a physical source…. especially if it’s sudden or familiar. These experiences are often subtle & can be easily dismissed if you’re not paying attention.
Scents are closely tied to memory & emotion, so it helps to reflect on what the smell reminds you of or what you were thinking about when it appeared. Over time, patterns may begin to reveal meaning.
Creating moments of stillness & presence allows you to better recognize these impressions as they happen.
The key is to acknowledge without forcing. The more you trust what you sense, the more naturally it begins to come through.

Extended Clairs

There isn’t just one way that energy shows up.

As you begin to understand your core clairs, you may notice your awareness expanding in ways that don’t necessarily fit into one category…. because intuition doesn’t limit itself. These are not separate abilities to chase…. they’re natural extensions of how you already perceive.

Your intuition will always meet you in the way you’re most open to receiving it. The more you pay attention, the more it begins to take shape in ways that feel specific to you.

CLEAR TOUCH

The ability to receive intuitive information or downloads through physical contact with objects or spaces.
This may feel like sensing energy, history, or emotion through touch.

WORKING WITH THIS CLAIR

Clairtangency develops through physical awareness & intentional interaction.
Start by noticing how objects & spaces feel when you touch them. Pay attention to any impressions, emotions, or thoughts that arise without effort.
This ability strengthens through presence. The more aware you are while interacting with your environment, the more information you may begin to receive.
The key is to stay grounded. Touch is a physical sense, so staying connected to your body helps you interpret what you’re feeling clearly.

CLEAR EMOTIONAL PERCEPTION

The ability to deeply feel & understand the emotions of others.
This goes beyond empathy, often involving intuitive awareness of what someone is experiencing beneath the surface.

WORKING WITH THIS CLAIR

See Clairsentient – Clear Feeling.
(This is an extension of emotional & energetic sensitivity).

CLEAR EXPRESSION

The ability to channel intutive insight through creative outlets such as writing, art, or ideas.
This often feels like inspiration that flows rather than something forced.

WORKING WITH THIS CLAIR

Claircreativity strengthens through expression without overthinking.
Allow ideas, words, or visuals to come through naturally without forcing structure or perfection. The goal is not to create something “good,” but to let something move through you naturally.
The more freely you create, the clearer the connection becomes.

CLEAR SEEING IN DREAMS

The ability to receive messages, symbols, or guidance through dreams.
These dreams often feel vivid, meaningful, or different from ordinary dreaming.

WORKING WITH THIS CLAIR

Clairvoyant Dreaming develops through awareness & reflection.
Start by paying attention to your dreams, especially the ones that feel vivid, symbolic, or emotionally charged. Writing them down helps you recognize patterns & recurring messages.
The key is consistency. The more attention you give your dreams, the more clearly they begin to communicate.

CLEAR SENSING OF PRESENCE

The ability to feel or recognize the presence of energy, spirits, or unseen forces.
This may show up as a strong awareness that you are not alone, even without physical evidence.

WORKING WITH THIS CLAIR

Clairpresence strengthens through stillness & grounding.
When you sense a presence, avoid reacting immediately. Instead, stay calm, still, & observe what you feel without assigning meaning right away.
The key is stability. The more grounded you are, the easier it is to recognize presence without fear or confusion.

CLEAR EXCHANGE

The ability to receive & interpret communication from intuitive or spiritual sources.
This can involve a combination of hearing, knowing, or feeling information.

WORKING WITH THIS CLAIR

See Clairauident – Clear Hearing
&
Claircognizant – Clear Knowing
(This ability often works through a combination of hearing & knowing).

CLEAR AWARENESS

A heightened state of perception where you are deeply aware of energy, patterns, & shifts around you.
This often feels like being highly tuned in without needing a specific “sense.”

WORKING WITH THIS CLAIR

Clairawareness develops through intentional observation.
Practice being fully present in your environment…. noticing energy shifts, patterns, & subtle changes throughout your day.
This ability grows as your awareness deepens. The more you observe without distraction, the more you begin to perceive.

CLEAR CONNECTION

The ability to intuitively connect with people, energy, or environments quickly & deeply.
This can show up as an immediate sense of understanding or familiarity.

WORKING WITH THIS CLAIR

Clairconnection strengthens through presence in interaction.
Pay attention to how you feel when engaging with people or environments. Notice when connection feels natural versus forced.
The key is trust. Your ability to connect intuitively becomes clearer when you honor what feels aligned & what does not.

CLEAR PERCEPTION

The ability to interpret & understand intuitive information as a whole.
This is often a blend of multiple clairs working together seamlessly.

WORKING WITH THIS CLAIR

See Claircognizant – Clear Knowing
&
Clairvoyant – Clear Seeing
(This is often a blend of multiple intuitive senses working together).

CLEAR ALIGNMENT

The ability to sense when something is in or out of alignment for you.
This often feels like a strong internal yes or no that guides decisions.

WORKING WITH THIS CLAIR

Clairalignment develops through honest decision-making.
Start by being aware of your internal responses to choices…. what feels like a clear yes versus hesitation or resistance.
The key is acting on what you sense. Alignment becomes stronger when you consistently choose what feels true, even when it’s uncomfortable.

Recognizing Yourself In This

You don’t need to master every clair to be intuitive.

Most people naturally lean toward one or two ways of receiving, even if they’ve never had language for it before. You may have already recognized yourself while reading…. or you may still be figuring it out.

Both are valid.

The more you pay attention to how you naturally perceive, the clearer it becomes. Intuition is not something you force…. it’s something you notice, trust, & strengthen over time.

Notice the consistency across all the clairs…. they deepen through meditation, stillness, & grounding.

These aren’t separate practices…. they’re the foundation.
When your mind is constantly moving, it becomes harder to recognize what is subtle, consistent, & true.

This doesn’t have to be complicated, although it may be tough when starting out.
Try not to be too hard on yourself if you are not able to achieve the goal.
Consistency is key to perfecting your clairs.

A few minutes of sitting in silence, focusing on breath, or simply observing your thoughts without reacting can begin to sharpen your awareness. Even slowing down throughout your day…. pausing before you respond, noticing how your body feels, or becoming more present in your environment & surroundings…. builds that same clarity.

Grounding can look like movement, stepping outside, walking barefoot, hugging trees, or intentionally bringing your attention back into your body. The goal is not to disconnect…. it’s to stay aware without becoming overwhelmed.

The more you create space to listen, the more clearly you begin to receive.

You don’t need to chase clarity….
You develop it by being present with oneself enough to notice it.
No chasing necessary when you embody the being.
